Konstantin Karanikas

Konstantin Karanikas (* 1966 in Leichlingen ) is a German-Greek movement and sports scientist . He teaches as professor and course director for physiotherapy at the University of Applied Sciences Bamberg - Private University for Health and works as a consultant, managing director, expert, editor, therapist and scientist.

Life

Konstantin Karanikas passed his A-levels in Athens , studied sports science at the Cologne University of Sports after completing a language degree at the University of Cologne , wrote his thesis at the Institute for Training and Movement Science and obtained the academic degree of a qualified sports teacher . After postgraduate studies at the University of Bochum in the subjects of prevention and rehabilitation through exercise and sport ( exercise and sport therapy), Karanikas studied as part of a distance learning course (aspects of sport economics ) at the Fernuniversität Hagen and obtained his doctorate at the Institute for Biomechanics and Orthopedics at the German Sport University Cologne for Dr. of sports science.

University teaching

At the end of 2009 Karanikas was appointed professor for movement sciences at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences. Another appointment was made at the Bamberg University of Applied Sciences. Karanikas has been Chairman of the Senate since 2013 .

Research fields

From 1997 to 2006 Karanikas was involved in research in projects at the Institute for Biomechanics and Orthopedics at the Sport University Cologne. This includes topics such as the adaptation of muscles and tendons, load design and load tolerance, movement security and movement effectiveness in old age and biomechanical aspects of strength training. Since 2007 until today he has been entrusted with the management of research activities in interdisciplinary therapeutic science at the Hohenfels University of Applied Sciences and at the Bamberg University of Applied Sciences.

Appraiser / reviewer

Karanikas has been a reviewer for the journal "Journal of Advanced Research" since 2010, and has been a reviewer for the specialist journal pt Physiotherapy since 2011.

Congress activities

Karanikas is often invited speaker at well-known congresses.
