The University of Applied Sciences Bamberg - University of Applied Sciences (HS or FH Bamberg) was a private, in Bavaria state-recognized university of applied sciences for health in the Upper Franconian university town of Bamberg .
History and organization
Sponsoring company
The university emerged from the Hohenfels University of Applied Sciences . In August 2010, the Hohenfels University of Applied Sciences moved from Coburg to Bamberg. For this reason, the name was changed, with the approval of the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Art since the beginning of the summer semester 2011, it has been named University of Applied Sciences Bamberg - University of Applied Sciences with the addition of Private University of Health . Since 2010, the German Adult Education Center has been the sponsor of the university through the Bamberg University of Applied Sciences . The founding president was Jürgen Bauer , the president was Matthias Brem. Jacqueline Erben-Schmittfull was the managing director of the sponsoring company.
Listed teaching building
The courses were held in a listed teaching building in Bamberg.
International cooperation
The university had cooperation agreements with Charles University in Prague , Uppsala University and Stradina University in Riga .
Submission of teaching
On September 1, 2013, the range of courses was transferred to the state-recognized, private, medium- sized technical college .
Full-time courses
The classical requirement for studying the high school or secondary school . However, the course could also be started with an intermediate level of education , at least two years of training in health care or three years of professional experience in connection with a consultation at the university. So far, these subjects could only be learned within the framework of vocational training at vocational schools . The Bamberg University of Applied Sciences was the only university in Bavaria that offered the two subjects as a full-time course.
Physiotherapy and speech therapy (Bachelor of Science)
From the winter semester 2010/2011, the Bamberg University of Applied Sciences offered full-time courses in physiotherapy and speech therapy . The physiotherapy course was headed by the sports scientist Konstantin Karanikas . The speech therapy course was headed by the academic speech therapist Marianna Hricova. Both subjects could be completed as an undergraduate degree. After the sixth semester, the students receive their professional certificate, which entitles them to practice their profession in the respective focus. After the seventh semester, the course concludes with the acquisition of the internationally recognized and respected Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) Degree .
Health Management (Bachelor of Arts)
The health management course is intended to cover the complex area of health. Above all, socio-political and socio-medical fields of action are dealt with . The common denominator of the individual disciplines are the public health sciences . Thus, health economics and business topics addressed, taught as additional knowledge from various fields, including medicine, social epidemiology , languages , sociology , politics, psychology , qualitative methods and statistics . Since the orientation of this course of study on the basis of public health is in the sociological, economic and social sciences, the academic degree “ Bachelor of Arts ” is chosen.
Prevention and Event Management (Bachelor of Arts)
In this combination, the course is a novelty. Be linked fields of action and topics from economics , health sciences , media studies , medicine, psychology and social science ; The students are prepared for activities in the context of empowerment and salutogenesis as a personal coach in crisis situations as well as in public relations , event planning and organization . This course is oriented towards economics and the humanities . Students receive a “Bachelor of Arts” as an academic degree.
Hospital and Practice Management (Bachelor of Science)
The course “ Hospital and Practice Management” primarily teaches knowledge that, against the background of public health-oriented organizational development , conveys competencies in the fields of medicine, communication , law and business . The students acquire the basics to work as a research-based manager in health care institutions, especially in inpatient and outpatient care . Because of this orientation, the academic degree “ Bachelor of Science ” was chosen.
