The Fachhochschule Schloss Hohenfels (University of Applied Sciences) was a state-recognized private university for specialist therapies in the health sector in Coburg (Bavaria).

History and organization

In 2004 the "Fachhochschule Schloss Hohenfels gGmbH" was founded as the supporting organization for a private university of applied sciences by the partners Klinikum Coburg gGmbH and the Medau-Schule gGmbH in Coburg. The Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts granted the state approval on December 30, 2004. On January 13, 2005 the basic regulations of the Hohenfels University of Applied Sciences came into force. In 2005, the German Adult Education Center also became a partner, which was the sole shareholder after the clinic and the Medau School left the company at the end of 2009. Previously, in September 2009, Hans-Jochen Medau, the President of the University of Applied Sciences, resigned. He accused the main shareholder, the German Adult Education Association, for unprofessional and selfish management of the university after the speech therapy course was suspended because of an insufficient number of new students.

Study centers were maintained in Berlin, Munich, Günzburg and Recklinghausen. Jürgen Bauer was the managing director and president .

Hohenfels Castle

In August 2010, the university moved from Hohenfels Castle in Coburg to Bamberg, the headquarters of the Bildungswerk, where full-time courses are also offered in larger rooms. Since March 15, 2011, with the approval of the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Art, it has had the new name Bamberg University of Applied Sciences - Private University of Health .

courses

A large part of the lectures took place over the Internet. The courses mostly took place on weekends.
