James S. Fishkin

James S. Fishkin (* 1948 ) is a professor of communication and political science at Stanford University . He is known for his work on deliberative democracy . In this context he also developed a method for deliberative polling . He is the director of the new Center for Deliberative Democracy at Stanford University.

James S. Fishkin received his BA and Ph. D. degrees from Yale University . He received a second Ph. D. from Cambridge University .

In 2014 he was accepted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
