Konstantin Pavlov (born April 2, 1933 in Vitoschko , in today's municipality of Pernik , Pernik Oblast , † September 28, 2008 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian screenwriter , author and poet . During the Bulgarian communist era, Pavlov became prominent as an intellectual . He was subject to censorship and the government banned him from publishing his work for ten years.

life and work

Pavlov started his work in 1966. During the prohibition and censorship, Bulgarians bought his works and read his poems .

He received numerous awards for his work in literature and for his poetry. In 1980 he was allowed to make a film for his screenplay for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Grand Prize . Many of his works have been translated into numerous European languages.

Among his most famous works and poems is Sweet Agony , which was published in 1991. Other titles were The Murder of the Sleeping Man (1992) and A Long Time Ago ... (1998).

Konstantin Pavlov died in 2008. He left behind his wife Maria and their daughter Donka.
