Konstantin Pollok

Konstantin Pollok (* 1969) is a German philosopher . He has been Professor of Philosophy at the University of South Carolina since 2017 . His research areas include the philosophy of Immanuel Kant , in particular Kant's natural theory from the metaphysical foundations of natural science , normative aspects of Kant's theoretical philosophy and the history of science , as well as the philosophy of the Enlightenment and the early modern period in general.

Career

After completing his MA in philosophy at the University of Bamberg in 1995, Pollok went to the Philipps University of Marburg as a research assistant to the Kant archive under Reinhard Brandt , where he received his doctorate in 2001. In 2001 his dissertation was published by Kant's “Metaphysical Beginnings of Natural Science”. A critical comment by Felix Meiner, in 2002 he received the PhD award from Phillips University for this. He produced critical editions of the Metaphysical Beginnings and the Prolegomena . In 2004 he received the International Kant Award of the ZEIT Foundation, 2006–2007 he was a Fellow at the Stanford Humanities Center, and in 2007 he completed his habilitation, again in Marburg.
