Konstantine Gamsachurdia (politician)

Konstantine Gamsachurdia ( Georgian კონსტანტინე გამსახურდია ; born June 24, 1961 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian politician and Iranist . He is chairman of the political party Freedom Movement .

Life

He is the only son from the first marriage of the first Georgian President Swiad Gamsachurdia and grew up in Tbilisi . After the overthrow of his father and his legitimate government, he fled to Switzerland with his family in 1992 . He lived in Dornach and worked as a translator, and was also a freelancer for various newspapers.

In 2004 he returned to his homeland for the first time in twelve years. At the Georgian parliamentary elections on March 28, 2004, he led the list of candidates for the freedom movement . Until 2006 he commuted between Georgia and Switzerland . Since February 2006 he has been leading his party full-time.

Private

He is married and has two sons.
