Contextualization
Contextualization generally means that a conceptual content, a thing, a word or a person is related to other content that is seen in a context with it. Depending on the classification of the content and the type of context, a distinction is made between different theories of contextualization. Linguistics investigates linguistic relationships, pedagogy studies theory, philosophy epistemological relationships. It is about the interactive constitution of the relevant context within a communication and interpretation process .
The term is used in particular in linguistics , communication theory , philosophy and education .
The contextualism rises contextualizing in the humanities and social sciences to the principle of thought.
The concept of contextualization is based on the conviction that complex and multi-layered words or sentences can only be seen and understood from their appropriate linguistic context , just as cultural objects can only be understood from their cultural and everyday historical contexts . It's always about making the right connections.
Contextualization is also considered a method of networked thinking and learning as well as systemic family therapy .
In essay lessons in German, contextualization of a text template means that the pupil makes extra- textual references to the text in his essay (historical, sociological, political influences, literary history, prior knowledge of the author or the history of the work, knowledge of other texts on the same topic or motif).
