The Konzerthaus Heidenheim is a hall building built between 1913 and 1914 on the southern edge of the city center of Heidenheim an der Brenz . The house, which has 550 seats, is used for various parties and ceremonies as well as theater performances and concerts.

history

For the construction of the concert hall, the design by Paul Schmohl and Georg Stähelin was determined as the best in a limited competition between three renowned Stuttgart architects' offices in spring 1913, and it was carried out in just under a year. The inauguration took place on May 24, 1914. The construction costs of the concert hall amounted to around 380,000 marks and thus exceeded the budget of 300,000 M estimated in 1913. Around 60 percent of the construction costs were borne by local companies and associations, with the company and the Voith family not only making a donation of 40,000 marks but also that Property contributed as a donation. The architecture of the building can be classified as late historicism or reform architecture , but also shows the influences of Art Nouveau in details .

Facade decoration

Façade plastic

The sculptural jewelry on the entrance porch was created by the Stuttgart sculptor Josef Zeitler . It consists of pairs of putti and terracotta plaques:

  • Two pairs of identical putti playing music adorn the facade above the terrace of the entrance porch: flute player and drummer with bird (number 1 in the picture) and lute and cello player with owl (2).
  • Two terracotta plaques (3, 4) each adorn the space between the five portals of the entrance porch and the windows above. One plaque (3) shows Pegasus jumping over a lyre , the other plaque (4) shows an aulos playing faun , with a giant mask and a billy goat.
