A stage structure that is used for the performance of symphony concerts in opera houses is called a concert room. It is used to adapt the acoustics of the stage for musical use.

Concert rooms consist of partitions that limit the stage to the rear and to the sides. In addition, there are ceiling elements that border the stage area at the top. So the space is lateral , rear and upper stage decoupled acoustically, and the sound directed specifically at short distances towards the audience. In addition to the position and orientation, the shape also plays a role in adapting the sound reflection and sound scattering. Without appropriate room acoustic measures, concerts in opera houses would only be possible from the orchestra pit. Classically, concert rooms form an almost closed structure made of wall and ceiling elements. This is usually also architecturally adapted to the design of the auditorium . Nowadays, single partition walls and ceiling sails are often used.
