Kori (currency)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kori was a currency and coin unit of various states on the territory of what is now the state of Gujarat in western India , including Kachchh , Junagadh , Nawanagar and Porbandar . As a silver coin, it weighed about 4.73 grams and was divided as follows:

1 Kori = 2 Adhio = 4 Payala (Singular: Payalo) = 8 Dhabu = 16 Dhinglo = 24 Dokda (Singular: Dokdo) = 48 Trambiyo

The princely state of Kachchh had the most extensive minting activity , where the Kori was minted from 1617 until it was incorporated into independent India in 1947.
