Ferry on the bank of Hisingen

Kornhallsleden , also known as Kornhalls färja ( German  Kornhalls ferry ), is the Swedish ferry route across the Nordre älv between Kornhall im Harestads socken in Kungälvs kommun and Brunstorpsnäs in the Säve district on the island of Hisingen in Göteborgs kommun .

location

The ferry route is along route 570. The ferry route is 200 meters and the crossing time is two minutes. The crossing is free of charge.

Both river banks are nature reserves and Natura 2000 areas .

business

The Gerd , an electrically operated cable ferry operated by the Trafikverket Färjerederiet , is used on the ferry route . The ferry runs every 20 minutes every day and every 15 minutes during rush hour. Some tours late at night or early in the morning follow the bell signal.

In 2016, 730,000 vehicles were crossed over the Kornhallsleden in around 24,000 ferry journeys. This makes this ferry line the busiest inland ferry route in Sweden.

history

Traffic on the ferry route began in 1850 and was officially registered in 1874. The ferry was operated on a contract basis until 1945, when the state road administration ( Vägverket ) took over. Since the route via the ferry significantly shortens the route to Gothenburg , the first powered ferry was used from 1951 to cope with the traffic.
