The freight tram connection was established in 1918. Initially, four converted tram cars with a possible payload of 5 tons were used. Load, as well as three trailers, which for a payload of approx. 8 to. Load were designed. In 1932, two vehicles specially built for grain transport were purchased and used, which weighed around 20 tons. Payload. In regular operation, the vehicles carried under the company numbers K-355 and K-354, around 320 to. Grain to be transported.

After initially only serving the Bjølsen Valsemølle mill in the Sandaker district over a 5.6 km long route, a branch was set up in 1953 to the Nedre Foss Mølle mill . The distance from the port here was about 3.3 km.

On February 15, 1967, the Korntrikk ceased operations when the line for the new ferry terminal was required in the course of the port renovation and the expansion of the quays. From then on, trucks took over the supply. Nedre Foss Mølle was shut down in 1986, while Bjølsen Valsemølle is still producing at its location today.

All vehicles were scrapped after the operation was closed, so that you can only visit a replica of the front part of a Korntrikk in a granary converted into a student dormitory on the site of the former Nedre Foss Mølle.

As a special feature, all Korntrikk vehicles had an additional, laterally offset pantograph on the roof, which allowed them to be filled in the middle from above when driving into the granary. A centrally guided contact wire would have prevented this.
