Korth 357 Magnum

Korth weapons is a manufacturer of handguns based in Lollar . The company was founded in 1954 by Willi Korth, who was an employee of the Mauser company during the Second World War . It has meanwhile become part of PTW KORTH Technologies GmbH .

history

First, the production was gas revolvers added, and later with the production of sharp weapons started. In 1982 Willi Korth withdrew from the management of the company and sold it. He remained loyal to the company for a short time as production manager. In 1999 the company that was owned by Bernstorff at the time had to file for bankruptcy. The company, which had around 30 employees at the time, was broken up as a result of this bankruptcy. Since April 2000 Korth has been owned by Armurerie Freylinger & Cie. , Luxembourg and expanded into the American market in 2001 by opening a subsidiary in the USA . According to an announcement by Korth GmbH in November 2008, Korth is closing its manufacture. This information comes from Korth himself and was announced, among other things, by an advertisement in the specialist journal DWJ . On April 22nd, 2009, the company relocated its headquarters to Lollar near Gießen, where it says it will start production again.

Products

The revolvers and pistols produced by the weapons manufacturer Korth are mostly made by hand. Only 30 percent of the processing is done by machines. For the manual production from the blanks, depending on the type and equipment, around 70 working hours are required. The weapons created in this way are often lavishly decorated. The prices of the weapons sold worldwide fluctuate, also depending on the type and design, due to the production method and the low number of items, between 4,000 euros for the cheapest models and around 100,000 euros . In comparison, a good quality pistol or revolver from factory and mass manufacturers such as Heckler and Koch costs around 500 to 1000 euros. An example of a Korth production is the anniversary edition for the company's 50th anniversary, which consists of a revolver, a pistol and a knife and cost around 25,000 euros in 2004.

Due to the time-consuming manual labor , the company only produces 120 to 150 weapons per year. Above all, the revolvers manufactured by Korth are among the most expensive weapons of their kind today. In addition to high dignitaries, the company's target group is primarily weapon lovers and collectors. In some states, Korth's models are given as state gifts.
