Kougny is both a municipality ( French commune rurale ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the Boucle du Mouhoun region and the Nayala province . The community has 15,818 inhabitants in 10 villages, the majority of which are Sanan .

The municipality is located in a cotton-growing area and is divided into the villages of Goin, Gounian, Gouri, Kamba, Kibiri, Kougny, Niaré, Nimina, Sébéré and Tiouma.
