Kourosh Khani

Kourosh Khani (born July 3, 1989 in Mashhad ) is an Iranian racing driver .

Career

Khani began his motorsport career at the age of eight. His father influenced him to this sport. He was a motocross driver himself and has a management position at the Iranian Motorsport Association. In 2007 he started in formula racing and took part in some British Formula Ford races. In 2008 he moved to Welch Motorsport in the BARC Formula Renault . He finished 16th in the main series and reached third place in the winter series. He also won his first Formula Renault race in the winter series. In the next two seasons, Khani remained without a win in the BARC Formula Renault. He finished both seasons in eighth place. In addition, he took part in individual races of the British Ginetta G50 Cup in 2009 and made his first experiences in touring car racing . In 2011 Khani moved to Scorpio Motorsport within BARC Formula Renault . He won a race and moved up to fourth place in the drivers' standings.

In 2012 Khani received a cockpit in the FIA Formula 2 Championship . He was the first Iranian racing driver in this series. Khani finished the season in 20th place.
