The Kozlov shrew ( Sorex kozlovi ) is a cryptic shrew from the genus of the red- toothed shrew ( Sorex ). It is only known from a survey of the fauna of the Sequ river and the Mekong from Tibet ; there is no further information on the species. The species status is questioned by several authors and it is assigned to the Tibetan shrew ( S. thibetanus ) as a subspecies, including in the reference work A Guide to the Mammals of China , edited by Andrew T. Smith and Yan Xie 2008.

The Kozlov shrew corresponds in its characteristics and way of life to the Tibetan shrew. The only known evidence comes from a survey on the upper reaches of the Sequ River in Tibet, which flows into the Mekong .
Systematics
The Kozlov shrew was classified as an independent species within the genus of the red -toothed shrew ( Sorex ), which consists of around 80 species. The first scientific description comes from Stroganov from 1952, who described it from Tibet. The species has been assigned as a subspecies to the Tibetan shrew by numerous authors. Apart from the nominate form Sorex kozlovi kozlovi, no further subspecies are distinguished within the species . The species was named after the Russian explorer Pyotr Kozlov .
Hazard and protection
Sorex kozlovi is not classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) due to missing data and is listed as "data deficient".
