history
KSV Esslingen was founded in 1894. After boxing and wrestling in the first few decades, judo has been practiced at KSV for over 45 years. As one of the first clubs and three years before the founding of the Württemberg Judo Association , the judo department was established in 1952 and from then on it enjoyed rapid growth.
The conditions that have been optimized since 2004 with the construction of the KSV SportArena are also reflected in the performance, for example the women's team of KSV Esslingen won first place in the Judo-Bundesliga South in 2009 and reached fifth place in the play-offs . The men made it through 2nd place in the Judo-Bundesliga, group south also made the jump to the play-offs and won the bronze medal at the German championships. With 12 teams, KSV Esslingen is also actively involved in almost all other leagues and has been very successful. On the competition mat, KSV Esslingen in Württemberg is the most successful judo club of the last 50 years. In addition, KSV Esslingen is one of the largest judo clubs in southern Germany with over 800 members.
For their physical development, judo is recommended as a full-body training paired with flexibility , speed , but also coordination , concentration and self-discipline by doctors and psychologists . The influx of judo is correspondingly high , but new budo offers such as tai chi , aikido and taekwondo are also enjoying increasing popularity at the KSV Esslingen.
The club's offer is rounded off with its own fitness studio KSV ArenaFitness , which was opened in 2005 and is also enjoying growing popularity and was awarded the seal of approval of the Baden-Württemberg State Sports Association as a “certified club fitness studio” in 2009 for its excellent training conditions.
