The GG Allen power plant is a coal-fired power plant in Gaston County in the south of the US state of North Carolina . The power plant has an installed capacity of 1,140 MW . It is located on Lake Wylie , a reservoir of the Catawba River .
A flue gas desulphurization system was installed by 2009 .
