The General San Martín power plant ( Spanish Central hidroeléctrica General San Martín ) is a hydroelectric power plant in the province of Mendoza , Argentina . It is located about 5 km west of the city of Luján de Cuyo on a canal that branches off from the Río Mendoza about one kilometer west of the power station . The Potrerillos dam is about 20 km west of the power plant .
The power plant was commissioned in 1950. The installed capacity of the power plant is 6 (or 6.48) MW . The average annual production is 22 GWh . The 3 Kaplan turbines each produce a maximum of 2 MW and the generators each 2.5 MVA . The rated speed of the turbines is 375 / min. The fall height is 16 m. The flow rate is 17.5 m³ / s.
