The power plant Wallerawang ( English Wallerawang Power Station ) is a former coal plant in Wallerawang , New South Wales , Australia . The power plant is owned and operated by EnergyAustralia (EA). It was shut down at the end of 2014 and is due to be demolished from 2019. The last installed capacity of Wallerawang was 1  GW . The power plant served to cover the base load .

Power plant units

The power plant went into operation in 1957. It last consisted of two blocks that went into operation from 1976 to 1982. The following table gives an overview:

Shutdown

In January 2013, one block of the power plant was shut down and mothballed for 12 months. The entire power plant was shut down at the end of March 2014. In November 2014, Energy Australia announced that it would shut down the Wallerawang power plant due to its age and declining electricity demand. In February 2019, the plan for the demolition of the power plant was published.
