The collar carpet shark ( Parascyllium collare ) is a species of shark from the family of collar carpet sharks . It is endemic to the east coast of Australia .
features
The species is very elongated and slender and reaches a length of up to 87 cm. Their body is light yellow to red-brown, at the level of the gills they have a dark brown color, which gives them their name. Five darker saddles are distributed over the back and tail, black points over the back, tail and fins.
Way of life
The collar carpet shark lives on the continental shelf at depths between 20 and 160 m, mostly near rock reefs or above solid ground. Like most sharks, it is a predatory fish and little is known about its prey pattern . The species is oviparous and lays its eggs in flat, long shells.
