Krahuletz Museum

The Krahuletz Museum with collections on regional geological history , archeology , folklore , regional and city history as well as a clock collection is located in the town of Eggenburg in Lower Austria .

The archaeological finds include u. a. Objects from the Lengyel culture as well as a bridle from the Roman Empire, which is similar to types from southern Sweden.

The museum is owned by the “Krahuletz Society”. Several special exhibitions are presented every year.

history

In 1900, citizens of Eggenburg founded the Krahuletz Society to keep Johann Krahuletz's extensive collection in the city. The museum was opened in 1902.

architecture

The museum, built from 1901 to 1902 according to the plans of the architect Richard Jordan , shows itself in late historical-romantic forms. The building has shallow side risalites , crenellated gables, a hipped roof with skylights over a console cornice and a lantern , which crowns the central projection. The portal is arched and square.
