Kraja is a Swedish folk music - quartet from Umeå in northern Sweden.
The word “Kraja” comes from the Sami language and means something like “place that one longs for.” The group - consisting of Eva and Lisa Lestander, Frida Johansson and Linnea Nilsson - is assigned to the New Folk . The four women sing Swedish folk songs and their own compositions a cappella .
history
Kraja performed for the first time in spring 2002 at the Umeå Folk Music Festival. The music group mainly interprets traditional Swedish folk songs, but also creates their own pieces. After the release of their debut album Vackert Väder in 2005, they toured Sweden and Germany (including appearances at folkBALTICA 2007 and 2011), Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia and the Ukraine.
