Krajowa Partia Emerytów i Rencistów (German: National Party of Pensioners and Pensioners, KPEiR for short ) is a Polish left-wing themed party that sees its task in representing the interests of pensioners , pensioners and people with disabilities.
While it does not take an explicit position on general social issues, the party represents left-wing approaches in economic policy.
history
After several local parties with a similar orientation had emerged in the course of 1991, the four largest of them agreed to join forces on November 20, 1993. The founding congress took place in the spring of 1994.
In the 2001 parliamentary elections , for the only time so far, the KPEiR was able to win a seat as part of the left-wing alliance SLD - UP , which was occupied by party leader Tomasz Mamiński. After a restaurant scandal in 2002, however, he was expelled from the then government faction. Since then, the party has only been successful in isolated cases at the local level and has been able to provide a few city or local councils.
