Krajowy Fundusz na rzecz Dzieci (German: Polish Children's Fund ), also KFnrD , is a Polish non-governmental organization that supports gifted Polish children. It was founded in 1981 by Ryszard Rakowski and Jan Szczepański. The association organizes the Polish national round of the European Union Contest for Young Scientists .

Scholarship program

The organization offers scholarships for students who perform particularly well in the natural sciences, human sciences, music or ballet. Instead of financial aid, the association gives students the opportunity to take part in lectures, workshops, camps and research projects with famous scientists from Poland and Europe.

The majority of the science camps and workshops focus on the science disciplines. For most workshops, students must first qualify. These camps and workshops often take place at Warsaw University , the Polish Academy of Sciences or the Jagiellonian University .

The most important event of the organization always takes place at the end of April every year. This is a main camp in Serock . Participants have the opportunity to attend lectures and workshops that relate to their interests. They also take part in activities that are not related to a specific subject: sports games, psychological workshops, film projections, concerts and meetings with intellectuals, often on profound topics of philosophy, religion and the evolution of the worldview.
