from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mechernich hospital has 418 beds and is divided into several clinics. It is located in the center of the city of Mechernich and has been the teaching hospital of the University of Bonn since 1977.

history

The institution of the Mechernich Hospital was founded on June 16, 1909. However, its roots go back well into the 19th century, when the first hospital with five beds for injured miners in the mine was founded in what was then the “Bachrevier” mining area. This laid the foundation for today's trauma surgery department . When large parts of the hospital were destroyed by bombs during the Second World War, various areas were moved back to the above-mentioned mine in order to be able to guarantee the safety of the patients underground. With the economic development of Mechernich, which was related to mining, the need for medical care also grew, which is why the Mechernich district hospital grew geographically and the departments were expanded. Since 1883 nuns of the Franciscan Order took care of the care and partly also the administration, but from 1972 left the hospital service completely. Several new buildings and conversions were carried out by 1958 and the war damage was repaired. In 1975, when Mechernich received town charter, the Mechernich district hospital became a GmbH .

The hospital has several clinics, one of which is an admission department and two non-bed departments. The clinics are divided into internal medicine, cardiology , acute geriatrics , pediatric and adolescent medicine, gynecology , trauma surgery , orthopedics , urology , anesthesiology and surgery . The radiology and the social pediatric center are not included. The receipt department is the department for ear, nose and throat medicine.
