Holy Family Hospital (Bethlehem)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Maltese Hospital of the Holy Family (English: Holy Family Hospital ) is a non-governmental hospital in Bethlehem .

history

The forerunner of today's Malteser Hospital is the purchase of the property in 1882 by the Compagnie des filles de la Charité . Hospital operations began on March 19, 1895. From 1985 to 1990 the hospital had to close because of the "political and social problems in the Arab-Israeli conflict".

clinic

The hospital has been operated by the Order of Malta since 1990 . The clinic above the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem offers medical care for the population, but above all it is the largest gynecological and obstetric clinic in the region with around 3,500 annual births and is open to pregnant women of all nationalities and denominations. A mobile unit also provides medical care for pregnant women in the desert villages of the West Bank. There is also a diabetes outpatient clinic.

Since 2016 there has been a cooperation agreement with the children's hospital "Bambino Gesù" of the Holy See in Rome.
