The Krause Piccolo Trumpf is a three-wheeled , single-seat disabled vehicle from the GDR and the predecessor of the famous (Krause) Duo .

history

The Krause Piccolo Trumpf was produced by the Louis Krause company in Leipzig. The company was founded in 1880 and began manufacturing vehicles for the disabled in the late 1940s. Various models were produced, but secure data are only available from the "Piccolo trump".

Models

The "Piccolo Trumpf" was built from 1955 to 1958 with a total number of around 3000, it was motorized like a Simson SR1 , the motor was on the right under the seat and drove the right rear wheel. The front swing arm was also used by the SR1, the hood over the front wheel was that of the IWL scooter Pitty . Both rear wheels were braked evenly by pulling on the steering column. The frame of the "Piccolo Trumpf" consisted of folded sheet metal. In addition to being operated by the motor, it was also possible to use muscle power to move forward; a lever had to be thrown and the steering column then moved up and down.

The "Piccolo Trumpf / 5" looked very similar to its predecessor, but some technical details were changed: The engine was now stronger and taken from the Simson SR2 , it sat on the left side of the vehicle and accordingly drove the left rear wheel, it was now braked (physically much more logical) by pressing the brake column. The top speed was around 30 km / h. This model was produced from 1958 to 1965 with a number of around 4500.

From 1966 to 1975 about 2500 pieces of the "Piccolo Trumpf / 7" were built. The change compared to the / 5 is the front, completely taken over from the Simson Schwalbe , with which the single-seater was brought up to date in terms of design and the Krause range of hospital elevators was brought uniformly to the Schwalbe design line. The production of the "Krause Piccolo Duo / 2", which is the first duo model that looks like the well-known "Duo 4/1", began in the same year, the first duo had a wider version of the pitty front.
