The Eutin District Library is a public library in the East Holstein district town of Eutin .

history

In 1938, the "Volksbücherei Department" was founded in the Eutin State Library . This laid the foundation stone for today's district library. In 1946 this department became the Eutin District Library. This library has been located in various historical buildings in Eutin over time. In 1949 the library moved together with the historical holdings of the state library to the Kavalierhaus on Schlossplatz and in 1980 to the newly created rooms in the former carriage depot. The library has been supported since 1975 by the foundation established by the Ostholstein district in the same year for the promotion of culture and adult education in the Ostholstein district .

Duration

Founded from an initial stock of 1,500 books, the district library has now reached a stock of around 50,000 media units. This inventory consists of fiction, non-fiction, literature CDs, music CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, board and console games, daily press, magazines, online databases of the Munzinger archive and e-books.

deals

A central concern of the district library is the promotion of reading skills in children. The range of events aims to introduce children to reading in a playful way. In addition, there is close cooperation with local schools. In addition to regular class tours, there are also seminars on information literacy. In cooperation with cooperation partners, exhibitions, readings and activities for adults, children and young people are offered.
