Rotary tipper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As centrifugal Tipper , centrifugal Wipper , rotation skipper or wagon tipping discharge device is open wagons for bulk designated. It is characteristic that the entire car is tipped. The device is used for railroad cars, but also for trams . The term “Kreiselwipper” is also used in mining.

description

During the unloading process, the wagons to be unloaded are held on the rails and tilted to the side together with the track. This saves emptying via doors or using grippers, as well as attaching a chute to the trolley. This means that the wagons can be designed lower so that the center of gravity is lower with the same load .

In order to enable unloading without prior disconnection of the freight wagons, the wagons can be equipped with rotatable couplings, as is used, for example, on the ore railways in Pilbara and on coal trains operated by North American railway companies. The end of the wagon with the rotatable coupling is specially marked so that it is easy for the railway staff to see whether the wagons are correctly coupled for unloading without disconnecting the train. So that the function can be used, a marked end must always be coupled with an unmarked end.

Tandem rotary tippers can unload two rail cars at the same time. With such a system it is possible to unload 6000 tons of coal an hour.
