"360 BPS BiPower" rotary hammer

The KRESS-elektrik GmbH & Co. KG was a medium-sized German company with headquarters in Bisingen in Baden-Württemberg , the power tools developed and produced. The company existed from 1928 to April 30, 2018. The well-known milling motors and special devices have been produced by AMB-ELEKTRIK GmbH at the same location since then.

history

In 1928 Christian Kress founded an electrical installation business with a workshop for car electrics in Lustnau near Tübingen . In 1929 Kress began to develop and manufacture small motors for direct and alternating current .

The new factory in Bisingen was put into operation in 1960, but the factory in Tübingen-Lustnau remained in existence until 1982/83. At first, Kress was just a supplier. In 1964, however, Kress began to manufacture stationary multi-purpose machines for drilling , turning , turning , planing , sawing , grinding ( Combylectric ) and drill pistols ( Multylectric ). From 1969 onwards, Kress offered a complete family of power tools for drilling, sawing and grinding.

In 1979, Kress founded the development and production company CEKA as a subsidiary of the KRESS Group in Wattwil , Switzerland. In 2011 the company was separated from the subsidiary as part of a management buy-out at CEKA. Between 2001 and 2005, Kress branches were established in France, Russia, Hong Kong and Bulgaria.

Kress produces cordless tools, rotary hammers , drills and impact drills as well as angle grinders and drywall screwdrivers for use in the target groups of sanitary, electrical, drywall and building trades. Kress is represented in over 60 countries around the world and sells its products through specialist dealers, but is also an OEM supplier for other brands.

In mid-September 2012, Kress filed for bankruptcy after sales in the first half of 2012 did not develop as expected. The business operations of the power tool manufacturer have been continued since February 1, 2013. The new owners were the shareholders of the Balingen-based company Krug & Priester GmbH & Co.KG. Dieter C. Kress, who had been in office since 1998, initially remained managing director, but was replaced by Wolfgang and Sebastian Priester in 2014.

In February 2015 it was announced that the investment company Callista Private Equity GmbH & Co KG had acquired 100% of the shares in Kress. In this context, Marc Zube ( Chief Operations Officer of Callista) became the new Managing Director of Kress. In September 2015, Zube handed over the technical part of the management to Marc Gareis. The engineer from Stuttgart previously ran a company for hand-held torque screwdriving tools - Lösomat, a subsidiary of the Remscheid-based tool manufacturer Gedore .

At first the continuation of the company looked positive, new device variants were developed in a short time; Ultimately, however, it failed due to the willingness of investors to finance new machines and products. In May 2016, the company had to file for bankruptcy again.

In October 2017, the management announced the imminent end of production as the company was unable to meet the bankruptcy plan.

As part of the search for investors by the insolvency administrator, the brand name Kress was sold to the Asian company Positec (Worx). The register entry at the DPA German Patent and Trademark Office is dated July 4th, 2017. Since then, lawn mowers have been offered on the website www.kress-elektrik.de under the name Kress. Apart from the name, these devices have nothing in common with the original Kress power tools from Bisingen.

The production of the well-known Kress milling motors and spare parts for Kress power tools will be continued under the AMB-ELEKTRIK brand at the Bisingen location.
