The Roman Catholic Kreuzkapelle is a Gothic chapel in Oberheimbach in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

In 1092 the bailiwick of Oberheimbach came to the Mainz cathedral chapter . The imperial abbey Kornelimünster and the Knights Templar were also wealthy in the place .

The predecessor of today's Kreuzkapelle was erected in this area around 1100. The building, erected in the Gothic period, with a 5/8 choir closure and buttresses, received the neo-Gothic roof turret and its appearance in 1886 .
