History and architecture

The cross-shaped, historicist plastered building with a central roof turret stands in a prominent, widely visible location on a hilltop. The chapel was built in 1868. It is the end point of the Way of the Cross of the Seven Footfalls, which begins at the Provost Church . The Way of the Cross dates from the end of the 17th century. The wayside shrines with rectangular niches and segmental arch attachments still show some of the original, finely sculpted reliefs. They were made around 1700 and 1733/34.

The ensemble has been registered in the list of monuments of the city of Marsberg since December 18, 1997 .
