The Gackau is an 18.2 km long, southern and left tributary of the Lune in the Lower Saxony district of Cuxhaven .

course

The origin of the Gackau lies in a meadow north of the settlement Albstedt and east of Albstedt . There an eastern and a southern source stream flow together.

The Gackau flows mainly in a north-northwest direction. In the upper and middle reaches it runs past Albstedt, Finna , Bramstedt , Gackau , Kransmoor , Heise and Wittstedt . It is in the middle course on two short sections border river of the unified communities Hagen in the Bremen in the west and Beverstedt in the east. Further downstream it flows in the lower reaches for a short distance on the border from Hagen in the Bremen region in the east to the unified community of Loxstedt in the west.

The Gackau flows north of the Loxstedt village of Hetthorn into the Lune tributary of the Lower Weser , which flows there from the east-southeast .

Protection status

The Gackau lies north of Wittstedt up to the confluence with the Lune in the FFH area "Teichfledermausgewässer im Raum Bremerhaven / Bremen", which is also designated as a nature reserve " Teichfledermausgewässer ".
