The waterfront strips are each included in the nature reserve over a width of ten meters. Furthermore, the nature reserve also includes near-natural developed lowlands of the flowing waters, including extensively used grasslands , floodplains on the lower reaches of the Drepte, reed beds and swamp forests on the lower reaches of the Lune and on the middle reaches of the Drepte as well as deciduous and bog forests near Wulsbüttel, as well as the Stoteler See with its riparian zones and numerous former clay mining waters (Pütten) in the Osterstader Marsch.

The banks of the Lune as slowly strömernden lowland rivers are mostly with Hochstaudenfluren covered or reeds, connect to the grasslands. In places, the Lune is accompanied by trees, and in small areas, near-natural quarry forests are formed.

The Drepte extends between Wulsbüttel and Hagen in Bremischen relatively close to nature by their Aue with breakage and Auwald residues, reeds and pastures . Below Hagen in Bremen, it runs through a lowland mainly occupied by grasslands and is accompanied by tall herbaceous vegetation or reed beds. Below the Drepte crossing through the A27 , the river merges into the Osterstader Marsch. Here he is confused. The fore dike areas are mainly used as pasture.

The Aschwarden flood ditch runs through agriculturally used areas. Its banks are occupied by tall herbaceous meadows and reed beds as well as ruderal meadows. Small areas of riparian wood and scrub forests are formed.

The still waters were created through soil degradation: The Stoteler See through gravel and sand excavation, the Pütten through the excavation of clay for dyke construction . The banks are occupied by reeds and willow bushes or other trees. At the Stoteler See, the adjacent quarry and deciduous forests are also included in the nature reserve. The still waters as well as oxbow lakes of the rivers accommodate silting up and aquatic vegetation, u. a. with occurrence of pondweed and frog-bite communities
