The nature reserve with the registration NSG LU 075 is 85 hectares . It has been a nature reserve since March 1, 1981. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Cuxhaven.
The nature reserve is located southwest of Hagen in Bremen. It puts a remnant of the Hagener Königsmoor under protection. In the predominantly drained area, moor forest is growing . In particular, the central area of the area is hardly changed by peat cuttings and drainage ditches . Here are the remains of the moor with vaginal cotton grass , heather and bell heather received. Pipe grass lawns and peat cuttings with peat moss silting societies can be found in the peripheral areas. In the north and south-west of the nature reserve there are larger, water-filled peat cuttings. The area drains through ditches leading to Drepte .
The nature reserve borders mainly on agricultural areas . To the northeast it borders on further, partially rewetted moor areas.
