The Mietmoor is a nature reserve consisting of three sub- areas in the villages of Ringstedt , Lintig and Köhlen in the Lower Saxony city of Geestland in the district of Cuxhaven .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 152 is 119  hectares in size. It has been under nature protection since July 16, 1987. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Cuxhaven.

The nature reserve is located east of Ringstedt and protects the rest of what was once a large raised bog . Pine and birch trees have settled in the drained bog, which has been modified by peat extraction. In the peat cuttings grow u. a. Peat moss and cotton grass . In parts of the bog, peat was cut as fuel until the late 20th century. To the east of the nature reserve there is another remnant of the raised bog that is not included in the reserve.

In parts of the nature reserve, the former moor areas are used as grassland . In order to be able to maintain use, the draining effect of the existing trenches must be preserved. The protection purpose is not only the preservation, but also the renaturation of the raised bog areas, for which the use of the grassland areas is to be extended or abandoned.

The area is drained via various ditches to the Scheidebach, which flows into the Geeste southwest of Ringstedt in the “ Fleinsee / Altluneberger See ” nature reserve and the Großenhainer Beeke, which flows into the Mehe , a tributary of the Oste , below Großenhain .
