The Dorumer Moor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony town of Geestland in the district of Cuxhaven .
The nature reserve is 213 hectares . It is almost congruent with the FFH area of the same name . The former nature reserve of the same name with the label NSG LÜ 090, designated in 1983 and covering 226 hectares, has been incorporated into the nature reserve. The area has been a nature reserve since September 17, 2010. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Cuxhaven, which manages the nature reserve under the registration number NSG CUX-002.
The nature reserve is located west of the A27 between Sievern and Neuenwalde and provides a peat bog area and the adjacent Geest areas under protection. Parts of the bog were drained and peat pelted away. The bog was now on the restoration rewetted . It is characterized by peatland forests and -heiden with Schlenken and quaking . Sometimes there are wet meadows and grassland , and heather in the drier transition areas to the Geest . The grassland is cultivated extensively.
The moorland is drained to the south via the Sieverner Bach to the Grauwall Canal, which flows into the Outer Weser at Weddewarden.
An eight-kilometer circular path leads through part of the nature reserve, starting at the Pipinsburg north of Sievern and passing archaeologically significant structures such as Heidenschanze , Heidenstadt and various barrows.
