Silbersee and Laaschmoor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony village of Wehdel in the unified municipality of Schiffdorf in the district of Cuxhaven .

description

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 011 is 34  hectares in size. It is largely part of the 406 hectare FFH area “Silbersee, Laaschmoor, Bülter See, Bülter Moor”, which also includes the nature reserve “ Bülter See and Randmoore ” , which is a few hundred meters southwest . The area has been a nature reserve since December 31, 2010. The 32.7 hectare large and almost congruent former nature reserve of the same name, which was designated in 1972, has merged into the nature reserve. The lake had already been placed under nature protection in May 1932. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Cuxhaven, which also manages the nature reserve under the registration number NSG CUX-009.

The nature reserve is located south of Wehdel. It puts the Silbersee and parts of the Laaschmoor adjoining it to the west under protection. The lake is embedded in a geest landscape that was shaped during the Glacial Vistula . It lies in a depression up to 11 meters deep. Its water quality is oligotrophic . In it are beach Ling , water lobelia and quillwort ago. The lake is surrounded by a wide belt of siltation and there is a break forest on the shore .

In the northeast of the lake there are two beach areas with marked bathing areas. To the north of the lake there is a campsite and a weekend house settlement on the edge of the nature reserve. In the southeast of the lake there is a fishing pier of the Wehdel fishing club, whose members use the lake for sport fishing .

The Laaschmoors is a dehydrated and partially abgetorftes bog area. Birch , pine and bog forest predominantly grow on the moorland . The non-forested areas are characterized by bog heather and swinging lawn. The moor is to be renatured by rewetting . In the west of the nature reserve there are small grassland areas on the edge .

The area is traversed by the source stream of the Grove , a tributary of the Geeste . The grove is also fed from the silver lake.
