The Grove is almost nine kilometers long flowing water in the district of Cuxhaven in Lower Saxony . It rises in the Laaschmoor south of Wehdel and is fed by an overflow from the Silbersee . It initially runs in an easterly direction and changes its course southwest of Geesteneth or northwest of Wollingst in a north to northwest direction. Here the Wollingst Grenzgraben flows towards you from the right. Between Wehdel and Geestineth, it crosses under the state road 143 and the Bremerhaven – Buxtehude railway line in quick succession and then runs northwards past Altluneberg to the east. A good kilometer north of Altluneburg, it flows into the Geeste as a left tributary in the " Geesteniederung " nature reserve .

The Grove is developed over almost its entire length, but has partly retained a natural, meandering course. Only a part of the upper reaches of the Grove that runs north-west of Wollingst through an old alluvial forest and scrap forest remnants has largely its natural course with meanders, impact and sliding slopes . In this area, a new grove was built in the 1930s south of the original course of the water, which is connected to the old course of the stream via connecting canals. The two streams unite a little above the confluence of the Wollingst border trench.

The Grove flows through a predominantly of grassland embossed depression in a Geest tal. To anadromous migratory fish such as sea trout and river lamprey suitable spawning places to offer, gravel basins were created in October 2007 in the area of the upper reaches. From a little above the mouth of the Wollingst Grenzgraben, the Grove is part of the FFH area "Niederung von Geeste und Grove".

The Grove has long stretches of species-rich aquatic vegetation with floating leaf plants and flooding underwater vegetation. In the Grove z. As eel , perch , bream , gudgeon , bream , pike , ruffe , sea trout, roach , rudd , tench , stickleback , brook and river lamprey before.
