Morphological differences between bream (above) and the closely related bream (below)

The silver bream ( Blicca bjoerkna , Syn .: Abramis bjoerkna , Linnaeus, 1758), also looks , Pliete or half bream called, is one of the carp fishing .

It can be easily distinguished from sable and lead ( bream ) by the large eye diameter . The beginnings of the pectoral and abdominal fins are reddish in him and gray in the lead. On average, these fish are 15 to 20 centimeters long. Capital specimens are up to 36 centimeters long and are therefore smaller than the lead. In contrast to the lead, the bream cannot push its mouth forward. Its large anal fin is equipped with a black outer edge. It does not show the golden color of the lead, but has a silvery sheen on the side.

Its habitat are stagnant water and weakly flowing river sections in Europe , preferably in plant-rich bank areas. It lives in schools , is not valued as a food fish and is therefore considered by fishermen as a food competitor of other carp fish.

Hazardous situation

The International Union for Conservation of Nature IUCN has the white bream on the Red List of Endangered Species and assesses it as LC IUCN 3 1st svg(= least concern - not endangered) because the species is widespread and no significant threats are seen.
