The Silbersee is a lake in the municipality of Schiffdorf in the district of Cuxhaven , Lower Saxony . The lake, which was created as a Heidesee during the Glaciation of the Vistula , is about 2 kilometers south of Wehdel on the edge of the “ Silbersee and Laaschmoor ” nature reserve .
The lake is almost completely surrounded by trees. There is a campsite north of the lake outside the nature reserve . There is a lawn for sunbathing, a playground, a football field and a beach volleyball field. In the summer months, the adjoining Café Silbersee is open every weekend. There is a swimming area on the north shore of the lake. The bathing operation is guarded by the DLRG on weekends in the summer months . About 2 hectares of the lake, in which there is a bathing island, are released for bathing. There is a fishing pier on the southeast bank.
In the lake are pike , walleye , perch , gudgeon , roach , bream , bream , rudd , tench , carp and eel before. The pond mussel is also native.
