The Tideweser is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon communities Schwanewede in Osterholz , Loxstedt and Hagen in Bremen in the district of Cuxhaven , cities Elsfleth , Brake and Nordenham and the municipalities Berne and Urban land in the district of Wesermarsch and and in the circular and unincorporated territory of the Outer Weser.

General

The area with the registration number NSG WE 315 is approximately 4020  hectares . The nature reserve is partially part of the approximately 1637 hectare FFH area "tributaries of the Weser with Strohauser Plate and Juliusplate". The approximately 3512 hectare FFH area “Unterweser” lies entirely within the scope of the Nature Conservation Ordinance. Finally, the nature reserve also includes a small part of the FFH area “pond bat waters in the Bremerhaven / Bremen area”. Partly it is also within the EU bird sanctuary "Unterweser".

The nature reserve borders at Ranzenbüttel on the nature reserve " Juliusplate ", between Brake and Kleinensiel on the nature reserve " Strohauser Vorländer und Plate " and in the district of Cuxhaven in several places on parts of the nature reserve " Teichfledermausgewässer ". At Bremerhaven it borders on the “ Luneplate ” nature reserve . The area in the Outer Weser borders the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park to the northeast or southwest . In Warfleth the nature reserve also borders the conservation area " Tideweser before Berne and Lemwerder ". The previous nature reserves “ Right tributary of the Weser ” and “ Neuenlander Außenendeich ” as well as the previous landscape protection area “Warflether Sand / Juliusplate” have become part of the scope of the Nature Conservation Ordinance.

The area has been under nature protection since February 14, 2019. Responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the districts of Osterholz, Cuxhaven and Wesermarsch as well as the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Protection .

The nature reserve, which consists of several sub-areas, extends from Warfleth near Weser-km 23 to the Outer Weser near Weser-km 85 in the Fedderwarder fairway.
