Location of Warfleth in Lower Saxony |
Warfleth is a district of Berne in the Wesermarsch district in Lower Saxony , whose southernmost municipality within the district is the neighboring municipality of Lemwerder across from Vegesack . Warfleth has been part of the municipality of Berne, Wesermarsch district, since 1948.
The district is located approx. 3 km east of the core town of Berne directly on the Weser at the end of the Warflether Arm . The administrative seat is in Berne. The Rönnebeck district of the Bremen district of Blumenthal is located on the opposite bank of the Weser . The place is on the district road K 217 halfway between Ranzenbüttel and Motzen (with the Weser ferry to Blumenthal).
The most important street in Warfleth, Deichstraße or Dorfstraße, runs along the Weser dike . It connects the Bernese districts of Motzen and Ranzenbüttel. Other streets in the village are: Am Friedhof, Bauernstraße, Warflether Helmer and Zollweg. The former lighthouse on the Warflether Sand Weser peninsula is called the Black Lighthouse Warfleth .
The " Warflether Sand / Juliusplate " nature reserve is located in Warfleth . The ground is consistently marsh.
There are also some shipyards near Warfleth: Gebr. Schürenstedt , the former Bern shipyard, Detlef Hegemann ( Rolandwerft , today Lürssen ).
The most striking historical building is the " Kirche am Deich ", the St. Mary's Church (with Evangelical Lutheran parish office ), a north German brick Gothic building from the 15th century directly on the Weser dike, which is also used as a concert church. Fallen knights from the battle of Altenesch are said to be buried in front of this skipper's church in Warfleth . The church has been protected by a sheet pile wall since the storm surge in 1962 .
In Warstedt there is the gymnastics and sports club Warfleth , including canoe polo . Next to the Warflether Arm of the Weser is a natural harbor operated by the Juliusplate-Berne water sports club .
The old school was located in a thatched roof - half-timbered house .
