Stedingen (municipality)

The community Stedingen was a 1933 built and 1948 re-dissolved municipality in the district Wesermarsch .

The Oldenburg law to simplify and reduce the cost of administration of April 27, 1933 merged the communities of Berne , Neuenhuntorf , Warfleth , Bardewisch and Altenesch into a new community, which was named Stedingen based on the historical landscape of Stedingen .

In 1939 the community of Stedingen had 8,965 inhabitants.

On April 1, 1948, the municipality of Stedingen was dissolved again and divided into the municipalities of Altenesch and Berne. Bardewisch remained part of the municipality of Altenesch and Neuenhuntorf and Warfleth remained part of Berne. Altenesch was renamed Lemwerder in 1972.
