Detlef Hegemann (born November 6, 1927 in Bremen ; † August 23, 2011 in Bremen) was a German entrepreneur and managing partner of the Hegemann Group from Bremen.

Life

Hegemann studied after graduation (1947) 1948-1953 at the Technische Hochschule Hannover the civil engineering . From 1954 he worked in the construction company founded by his grandfather August Reiners, which he took over partially in 1957 and completely in 1973. In the following years the company expanded. Subsidiaries and branches were founded in the cities of Bremerhaven , Hanover, Braunschweig , Berlin , Munich and Stuttgart . Since 1958, in addition to August Reiners Bauunternehmung GmbH, Hegemann GmbH has existed with the areas of dredging, ship repair and conversion, steel construction and environmental technology. The shipbuilding sector was particularly close to his heart: in 1972, he began acquiring the insolvent Rolandwerft in Bremen-Hemelingen , which initially only dealt with section building and ship repairs, before the new shipbuilding work began again in 1977. With the acquisition of the Schürenstedt shipyard in Berne , the shipyard operations were expanded. After reunification, Detlef Hegemann first took over the Peene shipyard in Wolgast , which employed around 800 people, and then in 2007 the Stralsund shipyard from the Maersk Group. In addition, the Deutsche Industriewerke in Berlin came as a shipyard for the construction of inland waterways . With the shipyards in the old and new federal states, he had created the third largest shipyard group in the Federal Republic of Germany. At times, up to 5,000 people were employed in the companies and branches of the Hegemann Group. As early as 2009, as a result of the global economic crisis and the steady growth of the Chinese shipyards, the seagoing shipyards in the old and new federal states had to file for bankruptcy. In 2011, the year of his death, only the German industrial plants of the former shipyard association remained in the group of companies.
