The Gellener Torfmöörte with Rockenmoor and Fuchsberg is a nature reserve in the town of Elsfleth in the Wesermarsch district , the municipality of Rastede in the Ammerland district and the independent city of Oldenburg .
General
The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 313 is approximately 313 hectares . It is part of the FFH area "Ipweger Moor, Gellener Torfmöörte" and includes the previous nature reserves " Gellener Torfmöörte " and " Rockenmoor / Fuchsberg " as well as some of the adjacent areas. The sub-area “Gellener Torfmöörte” borders on the protected landscape area “Oldenburg-Rasteder Geestrand” in the west . The area has been under nature protection since December 22, 2018. Responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the districts of Wesermarsch and Ammerland and the city of Oldenburg.

The nature reserve, which consists of three areas, is located northeast of Oldenburg. The largest part is located in the Wesermarsch district. The “Rockenmoor / Fuchsberg” sub-area, which is approximately 171 hectares and consists of two sub-areas, is completely located and the 142-hectare sub-area “Gellener Torfmöörte” is largely located in the Wesermarsch district. There is only an approximately 12 hectare area around the duck pool in the west of the nature reserve in the Ammerland district and an adjacent approximately 1 hectare area in the city of Oldenburg. The nature reserve protects the remains of the Ipweger Moor , a former raised bog and transition moor in the transition area from the Oldenburger Geest to the Wesermarsch . The remaining bog areas, which were drained in the past, have been changed by peat peat digging . In the area of Gellener Torfmöörte former peat are rewetted and having the character of still waters of marginal Verlandungs vegetation and floating mats and sedge and cotton grass vineyards. Large areas of the reserve are with birch - peatland forests existed. Furthermore, larger stocks of gels can be found in some cases. Partly also open moorland areas are Bult-Schlenken complexes with beak-sedge companies or moorland of bell heather and places heather to find. In the north of the “Rockenmoor / Fuchsmoor” area, there are extensively used grasslands within the nature reserve.
In the nature reserve settle vaginal and Eriophorum angustifolium , Middle and Sundew , White beak-sedge , cranberry , bog rosemary , calla , marsh marigold , marsh and Dryopteris cristata , water hemlock , bladder , thread and Walzensegge , thread rush and various peat mosses .
The area is a habitat for moor frogs and adder, among others . In addition, it is home to numerous species of dragonflies , including small red damselfly , moon Azurjungfer , Torfmosaikjungfer , Nordic leuccorhinia , large white-faced darter , white-faced darter and Small Binsenjungfer . It is also a feeding habitat for the pond bat .
The area is drained through ditches . The Gellener Bäke delimits the partial area "Gellener Torfmöörte" or flows through it. The Ipweger Moorkanal flows through the sub-area "Rockenmoor / Fuchsberg". In part, public roads border the nature reserve. Most of the protected area is surrounded by agricultural land . In the southwest it borders on wooded areas. A hiking trail runs through the Gellener Torfmöörte .
