The Barkenkuhlen in the Ipweger Moor are a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Rastede in the Ammerland district on the border with the Wesermarsch district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 172 is a good 53.5 hectares in size. It is almost completely part of the FFH area "Ipwegermoor, Gellener Torfmöörte". The nature reserve has been under nature protection since August 21, 2010. It replaces the nature reserve of the same name from 1986.
The high moor area is located east of Wahnbek in the Ipweger Moor . The peat is partly cultivated, partly as heath moor and bog with bog pools get. The grassland areas in the cultivated fields lie fallow, they were gepoldert, with the goal to as much surface water to keep swamp and silting creating sbereiche.
The area is about various trenches u. a. drained to the Ipweger Moorkanal in the north, which in turn drains via the Moorriemer Canal to the Hunte and Weser .
