The Great Angel Sea is under nature conservation standing lake in Lower Saxony municipality of Bad Zwischenahn in Ammerland . The lake is located south of the Oldenburg – Leer railway line in the Kayhauserfeld district .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 068 is 1.7  hectares in size. The Großer Engelsmeer is a moor lake that is located in a drained raised bog . Birch forest grows around the lake.

The area has been under nature protection since January 8, 1939. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Ammerland.
